Arafat Adil, born in 2005 and identified in his former Chinese passport as Alifa Adili, fled China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region after escaping what numerous international organizations have described as systematic repression against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim minorities. While awaiting a decision on his asylum application in Germany, he was reportedly detained by German authorities and transferred to Frankfurt Airport for deportation proceedings.
The reported attempt to remove Adil has sparked concern among Uyghur organizations and human rights advocates, particularly because official documents indicate that he is a citizen of Türkiye rather than China.
Mother Issues Emotional Appeal
Following news of his detention, Adil’s mother, who resides in Türkiye, released an emotional video message on social media pleading for urgent international assistance.
Fighting back tears, she said that her son had been taken away by German police and that the family had received no clear information regarding his whereabouts or legal status.
“Please pray for my son. He is my only child. I beg everyone to help save him.”

Human rights organizations, United Nations experts, and numerous independent reports have documented widespread allegations of arbitrary detention, political indoctrination, forced labor, religious repression, and severe restrictions on fundamental freedoms in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
