Interpol, France, and China Operations Targeting Turkey’s National Security: The Process That Led to 14-Year Sentences for East Turkestan Associations

“Is INTERPOL using international law as a tool to cover up a genocide? The extraordinary operations faced by the leadership of the Turkistan Islamic Association (TIA) have revealed an intelligence network directly targeting Türkiye’s national security. Through so-called ‘phantom notices’ allegedly concealed from Türkiye in violation of INTERPOL’s own statutes, and fabricated complaints allegedly involving the French Consulate, the powerful voice of East Turkestan is being silenced. Here is the striking story of the dirty alliance spanning from 2015 to 2026 and the barriers erected against a nation’s struggle for freedom.”

INTERPOL as an Intelligence Tool: Behind the Secret Operation That Delivered Turkish Citizens to China

We had reported in 2015 on the cooperation between France and China within INTERPOL and the trap set for Turkish citizens. In that report, we did not include details for precautionary reasons due to the detainee situation. The Deputy Chairman of our Turkistan Islamic Association, M.A., traveled from Istanbul Atatürk Airport in 2015 for commercial purposes to Belarus, and was arrested at the Belarus airport due to an INTERPOL alert and handed over to China.

INTERPOL is obliged to notify all 196 member countries about individuals subject to arrest warrants. In doing so, it must provide case files stating the alleged crime, evidence, and the country requesting the INTERPOL notice.

The Trap Set for M.A. in 2015 Through INTERPOL, France, and China

The INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon, France, together with French and Chinese authorities, allegedly set a trap for the Deputy Chairman of the Turkistan Islamic Association, M.A., and failed to notify the INTERPOL alert to Türkiye. As a result, M.A. was able to leave Istanbul Airport without issue, but was later arrested at the Belarus airport by INTERPOL and extradited to China. INTERPOL thus allegedly facilitated his transfer to China through a setup.

Had INTERPOL notified Türkiye of the alert, international legal procedures would have been triggered, M.A.’s INTERPOL file would have been examined, and it would have been assessed whether the request was based on legitimate grounds. In that case, M.A. would not have been handed over to this extradition to China or the alleged INTERPOL trap.

China’s Military Display in Belarus with an 80-Person Military Aircraft and the Transfer of M.A. to China

The occupying Chinese Communist regime staged a show of force in Belarus with an 80-person military aircraft and transported Turkistan Islamic Association Deputy Chairman M.A. to China. He was held in prisons in East Turkestan, where Uyghur Turks are also detained, for 3.5 years with 40-kilogram shackles on his feet, subjected to various forms of torture, and was handed over to Türkiye in 2019.

The Trap Set for Turkistan Islamic Association President Y.Ş. Involving the French Consulate, INTERPOL, France, and China

In 2018, France, China, and INTERPOL allegedly set a trap for Turkistan Islamic Association President Y.Ş. (Yılmaz Şahin). A French female journalist was sent to him, stating:

“I want to conduct an interview and write a series of articles about Uyghur Turks in East Turkestan. I will also conduct interviews with East Turkestan associations in Kayseri and Istanbul.”

She claimed she had come for an interview. Later, she asked:

“I am going to Kayseri, I don’t know the way. Can you take me to the bus station?”

Upon this request, President Y.Ş. took her to the Esenler Bus Terminal metro station in Istanbul. However, she did not actually enter the bus station and instead returned on the same metro she arrived with.

During this movement toward the bus station, the person disguised as a French journalist—allegedly an INTERPOL agent—contacted INTERPOL. The French Consulate was informed, and together they filed a complaint at the bus terminal police station. As a result of this complaint, the association president was detained for 15 months and, as of 2026, was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

In Türkiye, where INTERPOL, France, and China allegedly operate freely, hundreds—possibly thousands—of individuals may have passed through Turkish airports without INTERPOL notices being properly communicated.

INTERPOL Operation Targeting the Turkish State and East Turkestan Associations
INTERPOL’s “Secret Bulletin” Strategy Against the Turkish State

In 2024, 10 suspects conducting espionage activities for French and Chinese intelligence services in Türkiye were arrested while posing as journalists. The Ministry of Interior reported that the suspects were identified as transferring information and documents obtained through espionage activities in Türkiye to French and Chinese intelligence services.

According to Anadolu Agency reports, the suspect named Katie made false statements during live broadcasts on foreign media outlets, including claims that:

“Syrian individuals were killed by Turkish soldiers at the Turkey–Syria border,”
“Turkish border guards threw 55 migrants into the Meriç River at the Turkey–Greece border,”
“Türkiye operates so-called torture practices in migrant detention centers,”
“Syrians are being oppressed within Türkiye.”

It was also determined that Katie provided fake documents and passports to Syrians whose legal processes were ongoing in Syria.

Because our association has been struggling against the occupying Communist Chinese state for 15 years, Turkistan Islamic Association and its administrators are being added to various international case files based on fabricated scenarios created by China.

The trap involving INTERPOL, with France and China in a leading role, targeting the President and Deputy President of the Turkistan Islamic Association, could potentially happen to many other associations and NGOs. We respectfully urge civil society organizations in Türkiye to monitor the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay) and appellate court processes.

Our association works to raise global awareness of the Uyghur Turks. For 15 years, it has been fighting to prevent Uyghur Turks from being handed over to China from countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. For this reason, the Communist occupying Chinese regime has become a target of international traps allegedly involving INTERPOL and France.

“This process, in which China allegedly adds our administrators to international case files with fabricated scenarios and involves INTERPOL and the French state in its crime, while also targeting the Republic of Türkiye, threatens all civil society organizations and East Turkestan associations. We request that legal processes at the Court of Cassation and appellate courts be followed, and that the Turkish press and public stand with us against these ‘cross-border operations.’”

We will never remain silent in the face of China’s atrocities in occupied East Turkestan against Uyghur Turks, including torture, rape, organ harvesting, killings, and the use of people as living organ banks.

TID PRESIDENT Y.Ş.: “WE WOULD GIVE OUR LIVES BUT NEVER ABANDON THIS CAUSE”

Turkistan Islamic Association President Y.Ş. stated:

On our website china-stop.com, you will see hundreds of Uyghur Turks whose families have been disappeared by the Communist Chinese occupation regime. We have more than 1000 video pieces of evidence, and we will publish them, God willing.

We have gathered testimonies of oppressed Uyghur Turks who fled from Chinese occupation in Turkestan, documenting the use of nearly 50 million oppressed Uyghur Turks in so-called “re-education camps,” which we describe as 21st-century Chinese Nazi camps and organ banks, as well as the forced Sinicization of children and sexual violence against women, and we have made them available for world media use.

There is no need for any additional evidence or documentation regarding the genocide committed by China against Uyghur Turks in East Turkestan. All witnesses and evidence have already emerged.

By God, we will not turn back from this path. We cannot abandon it. Even if China imprisons us, sets cross-border traps, tortures us, kills us, or burns our bodies, we will give our lives in the path of Allah and will never abandon this cause.

TURKISTAN ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

NOTE: Türkiye became a member of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) 96 years ago, in 1930. The purpose of INTERPOL is defined as follows:

According to Article 2 of the INTERPOL Constitution, adopted at the 1956 Vienna General Assembly and still in force:

“To ensure the widest possible mutual assistance between all criminal police authorities, within the limits of the laws existing in the different countries and in the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to establish and develop institutions capable of contributing to the prevention and suppression of ordinary crimes.”
